Describe the photos you took: The photos taken in this assignment were meant to be of playgrounds and power lines. I went out to a couple of local parks to take this photos and captured their play equipment along with any nearby power lines. It was interesting the difference between the organic and industrial world.
Did you consider the rule of thirds to compose your shots? In which photos? Describe. I considered the rule of thirds in all of my shots, however it is best in the first photograph. The swing set lands on 2 thirds as well as the subject in the picture. It is makes the picture a lot more interesting to look at.
Which one of of your photos is a dynamic composition that successfully leads the viewer’s eye through the work? The fourth picture has a dynamic composition that successfully leads the viewers eye through the work because it focuses on the wheel up close, however the eye wanders to look at more of the equipment further away in the photo, making it complicated and intriguing. I cropped out distracting components of the photo that would have ruined the composition.
Which image do you feel contains the best play of organic and geometric shapes? The image of the tree intertwined with the power line has the best play of organic and geometric shapes. The power line is composed of lines and industrial shape while the tree is natural and the leaves are all different colors giving it a cool tone in gray scale. The photo really focuses on both in a unique way.
Which image do you feel best satisfies the assignment? Why? The first image really satisfies the assignment because it is of a playground and there is the industrial swing set, but the natural setting. The clouds really pop in the photo and really make the photograph have an interesting composition. There is also pattern in the chain, line in the swingset, shape in the home, and texture in the clouds. These are all that we have been learning about thus far in photography.
