Why did you select the image? I selected these images because they have a good color balance, whether they are in black and white or in color. They also exemplify the law of thirds, making the ordinary extraordinary. Finally, they encapsulate many different interesting compositional components such as proper exposure, balanced whites, and more. What edits did you have to make? On many images I had to convert them into black and white, which could make balancing the whites, blacks, and grays a bit difficult. I had to work in the levels feature in photoshop to balance the whites, blacks, and grays and to alternate the intensity of each. On some of the colored images, especially the portrait, to make it more interesting I added a vignette to make it more interesting and to focus the audiences' eyes upon the intensity of her hair. I also used the complementary colors in the picture of the water to really make the image compelling. What compositional considerations did you make? When composing my images, I made sure to always consider the law of thirds. If I forgot, I would edit and crop within photoshop to make the images more interesting. Also, in the photo of the mugs, there was an utterly distracting background so to fix the somewhat poor composition of the photo, I used the patch tool so demonstrate my awareness of the importance of a quality composition. I also balanced the whites in the camera when composing, used a shallow depth of field, looked for a good balance between shadows and highlights, and more. Are there any technical aspects that make the image unique? In the first image, there is a buoy in the water that really makes the image quite unique and gives it that extra touch of detail that makes a photo interesting. In the picture of the basketball hoop, the whiteness of the hoop on top of the dark chimney is something that really intrigued me after taking the image. The color scheme of the cups and the vibrance of the color, make the viewers eyes wander the entire image, despite the rest of the cups being out of focus. The picture of the swing set is so intriguing because the clouds were so prevalent in the image, emphasizing the amount of detail in the image and the background.
